From BC Vault Application v3.0.0 you can optionally enable "Use biometry" under "Application Settings/Preferences" to enable use of biometry methods available from your Operating System (Windows/MacOS) to securely store your global password and wallet passwords.
If you enable this feature whenever you will enter correct password (global or wallet) you will have an option to store it securely and use biometry method (Fingerprint, FaceID...) next time.
PIN's that are entered on the device itself are not stored and you still have to enter them on the device as always. This is very important security feature, as PINs are never sent outside of the device.
Available options under "Use biometry":
- Not available
Biometry is not available. - Don't use
Biometry will not be used, even if available. - Always use
Biometry will be tried for all passwords. You can still choose which password to save individually. - Use for current session
Biometry will be used just for current session and work until you close the application. No passwords will be stored for future biometry use. - Wipe & Don't use
All potentially stored biometry data will be deleted and biometry will be disabled.
Once you enable biometry and securely store the password you will see this icon that enables you to use biometry method for filling our your password (you can also still type in the password via keyboard of course):
Using Multiple BC Vault Devices on the Same Computer?
To protect your privacy, BC Vault devices are designed without unique identifiers. As a result, the system cannot distinguish between multiple devices used on the same computer.
This means only one global password with biometric authentication can be stored at a time.
