Your password—the string of characters you enter on your computer—can be as long (within reason) or short as you like. However, it is generally advisable to use passwords that are at least 8–10 alphanumeric characters long. Avoid easily guessable information such as birthdays, well-known dates, or personal names.
The BC Vault does not enforce a minimum password or PIN length. You also have the option to leave the global and wallet password/PIN fields empty, but doing so leaves your data vulnerable to unauthorized access.
For optimal security, we strongly recommend setting at least a global password and PIN.
