Non-Fungible Tokens (NFTs)

Modified on Tue, 20 Sep 2022 at 03:39 PM

BC Vault does support storage of NFTs on Ethereum (and Ethereum clones as Polygon, Cronos...) Wallets natively (ERC-721) and via WalletConnect protocol (ERC-1155...)!

What are NFTs - Non-fungible token?

A non-fungible token (NFT) is a special type of cryptographic token that represents something unique. NFTs are called non-fungible because they are not mutually interchangeable, since they contain unique information, although it is possible to mint any number of NFTs representing the same object. This is in contrast to cryptocurrencies like bitcoin, and many networks or utility tokens, that are fungible in nature (Wikipedia 2021).

How to use BC Vault with NFTs (ERC-721):

From v1.8.0 BC Vault Desktop Application will show you all your ERC-721 NFTs in the application itself (all other NFTs are supported via WalletConnect and sites as OpenSea, see below).

This icon will show you which crypto currencies on the BC Vault support in-application NFT operations:

You can directly view and send the NFTs from the application itself.

How to use BC Vault with NFTs using WalletConnect (ERC-721 & ERC-1155):

Most of the sites such as UniSwap, OpenSea etc. support WalletConnect protocol (Web3) as a link between the web site and BC Vault hardware wallet. Follow this link for more information about WalletConnect.

Usage example with

  1. In your web browser open (Always make sure you are on correct and legit site!).
  2. Click on the Wallet icon:

  3. Select WalletConnect:
  4. Follow our WalletConnect guide to connect BC Vault wallet of your choice.
  5. Once connected you can buy NFTs and see all your NFTs in the linked BC Vault Wallet under Profile:
  6. If you want to do something with the particular NFT (Sell, Transfer...) click on the three dots and select action accordingly:
  7. For more information we recommend you to check OpenSea Support Center.

TIP: You need Ethereum(ETH) in the wallet to pay for gas (transaction) fees. The same as handling ERC20 tokens! Gas is always paid in ETH!
